Yoga in schools

Posted on Tuesday 27 January

I'm really looking forward to the next couple of Mondays as I will be doing a whole day of yoga each Monday in Cottesmore school Brighton! The head teacher, Miss Holland, is an advocate of these practices so has invited me in to spread the word.

I already do an after school club at Cottesmore, the girls all love the class, so am hoping that this will get a few more little yogis and yoginis on board. Yoga is so great at keeping the kids flexible and helping them learn focus and concentration through imaginitive play. They have fun and connect with themselves and each other. It is amazing to see at even a young age, they gain so much benefit from being still, and they pick it up so easily.

Sessions will be tailored to age, so the content of the classes will vary with the year groups, the younger ones using a bit more play, props and colourful fun than the older ones. All will be learning about themselves and their place in the world, and all sessions will have the key components of postures and quiet times, learning about the calm within us.

If you would like to have a yoga day in your school, get in touch and we can plan something that works for you.
